Restless Sleeping Knight with Cross (2025)

In Polish folklore, the Knight of Giewont will wake only when the nation faces its greatest peril. In this diptych, I’ve tried to capture that exact, terrifying moment of realization. ​I use an abstracted, expressionistic landscape to convey the sheer psychological weight of the threat. The reds are fiery and consuming, the blacks are menacing. When Russian drones violate Polish airspace, it’s the mountain itself that feels the tremor. This painting is a call, a warning: the Knight is not yet awake, but his sleep is now violently restless.
